Brookfield Central bounced back from a devastating loss to Divine Savior Holy Angels on Jan. 31 to win, 65-45, at West Allis Central.
The Lancers blew out the Bulldogs early with a 19-7 first period and stretched their lead to 35-19 at halftime.
Senior forward Anna Liewen continued her dominance with 25 points with seven 2-point field goals, two 3-pointers and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line while grabbing a dozen boards. Freshman Emma Brauer added 13, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Sarah Fotsch chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds.
Bulldogs senior all-star Mehryn Kraker had a game-high 29 points with six 3-pointers and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line to lead all scorers, but the Lancers shut down her teammates.
"This team does well when they sense that they are better than the other team," Lancers coach Dan Wandrey said. "We really controlled things. Heck we were up 12-0 and the game was over early."
Central remained in fourth place (6-4) behind co-leaders Divine Savior Holy Angels, Menomonee Falls and Sussex Hamilton, all with 8-2 records.
The Lancers hosted powerful New Berlin Eisenhower on Tuesday and were blown away by the Lions, who have won 35 straight Woodland Conference games and are now 16-0.
Ike came out and ran up a 13-6 first-quarter lead and increased it to 26-12 at intermission. They outscored Central 15-11 in the third quarter and took at 41-23 lead into the final period.
It was the same old story for the Lancers as Liewen was unstoppable with 20 points, tying Lions all-star Nicole Bauman for the game-high point total.
Ike's Jenny Weiland added 15 points, while the best the Lancers could offer was five points from Lydia Rohde.
Central hit 7-of-12 free throws, as Rohde was 3-for-3, but Liewen struggled with a 4-for-9 performance. Ike finished 6-for-8 with Bauman being a perfect 4-for-4.
Central has five conference games and one non-conference game left to play. The Lancers host Brookfield East at 6 p.m. Feb. 10 and then play Mukwonago at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14.
The Lancers saw their overall record fall to 9-8, as they managed to stay above the .500 mark.
Venue change: The Lancers' game with Mukwonago on Tuesday has been moved from Mukwonago to Central.
