Art Fuel at the Goodwill February 17

Feb. 4, 2010 | 0 comments

All artists and those simply interested in art are invited to attend WAUKESHA CREATIVE ARTS LEAGUE’S sixth of their September - May monthly meetings at 6:30pm, Wednesday, February 17th at the Waukesha Goodwill Industries building, 1400 Nike Drive, Waukesha – a really friendly meeting place with ample lighted parking.

This month’s meeting will feature a critique of WCAL members’ artworks by award-winning Cedarburg artist Patrice Herbst.

In her artist’s statement she writes, “Whether painting a portrait, landscape or still life, it is simply awing to me to recognize each one is composed of beautiful pieces of paint. Working as a visual artist is an incredible gift. My work is a reflection of my surroundings and the beauty I find in everyday places and things.”

You can view her current work at www.patriceherbst.com which states, “Enjoying the challenge of being completely self-taught, Patrice has worked successfully in a wide range of mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil, charcoal and pastel for over 35 years. During this time she has worked in figurative, realism, and abstract styles. In recent years she has returned to her love of oils and now focuses exclusively on still life. In 2006 Patrice was listed in the "75 Women of Influence in the Visual Arts" by Visual Art Writer Mary Louise Schumacher in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Yearly dues for WCAL are a very reasonable $25. Sign up at a meeting or unearth a WCAL membership form at one of the 16 Waukesha County libraries or call Margaret Schumann at 262-385-5320.

At our informal, friendly meetings we learn through art demonstrations and critiques by local artists, teachers, and professionals who share their art expertise and vision. WCAL also organizes the yearly Waukesha County Courthouse Purchase Award Art Program, participates in the Wisconsin Regional Art Program, awards art scholarships to area High School Seniors and conducts a public member exhibit. Our members also show their works at selected local libraries and other venues.
